Different Types of Tractors
In a simple definition, a tractor is a heavy vehicle engineered to deliver a high tractive torque at slow speeds and is usually needed in agricultural and construction works. It is also being used as a source of power when tractor implements are needed in farming tasks.
If you are in the farming or construction industry, it is necessary to get familiar with tractors found in the market today. Below are some examples of the types of tractors that you (or your company) need in the coming days:
- Compact utility tractor (CUT) – a small-size model of tractor used for agricultural works. Specifically this type is designed for landscaping and land management and not for planting as well as harvesting on a commercial level
- Utility tractors – are small enough to handle both farming and landscaping tasks but have more powerful engines than the compact utility tractors. This type is often used in things like dairy and hay operations.
- Specialty tractors - there are certain agricultural operations that need customized approach (special crop needs a special solution) and with that, specialty tractors are used to cater these specific needs.
- Backhoe Loader – a type of tractor that is usually designed for construction use: light transportation, digging, small demolitions, loading of tracks, powering of building equipment, paving of roads, etc.
- Garden Tractors – are usually strongly built and come with strong axles, frames, and transmissions. These are usually utilized in domestic operations like gardening (cutting of grass) – similar to lawnmower functions.
If you (or your company) are planning to buy a certain type of tractor, doing a research first would be a great idea. One powerful tool to do that is the Internet – read product reviews online; participate in online forum discussions; do products comparison by visiting tractor websites; ask for a quote. Also, seeking help from authorized distributors can also be very useful.
